"The Shadows Whisper" (カゲささやく Kage sasayaku?) is the seventh episode of the Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso anime adaptation. It first aired in Japan on November 20, 2014.
Blurb[]
The contest approaches. Kousei has memorized his selected piece but doesn't know if he could play the piece in his style and make the piece his own.
He is hurt during gym class and collapses while running a lap and is carried to a health-care room. "Anyhow you're you", said The Cat to Kousei . The day of the contest has finally come. Kousei, worries that he may not be able to play the piano any more. But whether it's only in his mind, or the truth of his self-imposed punishment the Cat asks him "is it real?'. Two old rivals are waiting for Kousei at the contest venue. When people judged Emi, Takeshi, and Kousei at many contests in the past several years ago and to Kousei's rivals chagrin he kept catching first prize, Emi and Takeshi were pianists of the same generation who longed to defeat Kousei, and in those old days they were completely jealous of Kousei's talent and regarded him as a rival to be not just be beaten but to be beaten and then broken in the most humiliating way possible.
